China is one of the fastest growing markets of today and attracts billions of dollars in foreign direct investments. Swedish companies have not been late to follow and operate on the Chinese market driven by opportunities in sales, production, and sourcing. However, there has been limited research made on how and why Swedish companies extend their sourcing efforts in China. By combining research within the internationalization of export activities, concepts from global sourcing, and gathered empirical data from leading Swedish companies operating in China, the thesis develops a framework for analyzing the internationalization process of sourcing in China..

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the process of technology sourcing within firms active in the CRT-market. The primary focus of the study is the motives, risks and problems associated with technology sourcing, to construct key learnings for organisations consider undertaking this way to access research and development or those organisations that are already operating in the CRTmarket. Method: As method has abduction been used. The empiric material of the thesis is based on qualitative research in form of interviews in a conversational manner. For correct interpretation and understanding a hermeneutics approach has been used.

Palm oil has been used in processed food commodities since the 19th century. An increasing demand for regulating and ensuring a more sustainable palm oil production has resulted in various initiatives. However, these initiatives have received critique due to lack of compliance and insufficient revisions of palm oil plantations. The initiatives for creating an ethical, social and environmentally sustainable production are not sufficient for the Swedish industrial users of palm oil. As a result, stakeholders such as Swedish food processing companies, commit to ethical sourcing codes of conduct that go beyond the international palm oil initiatives.

Term: Spring term 2007Study objects: Reitan Servicehandel AB, Vi-butikerna, ICA Sverige ABPurpose: The purpose of this study is to analyse how procurement is used as a strategy to achieve better competitive strength, within the retail food industry.Theoretical: The theoretical chapter illustrates different procurement organisations, multiple and single sourcing, brand equity, consumer behaviour and involvement, Efficient Consumer Response including supply chain and category management and finally Demand Chain Management.Method: For the case studies, three food retail companies have been interviewed: Reitan Servicehandel AB, Vi-butikerna and ICA AB. To illustrate how consumer behaviour influences retail food market, several secondary consumer research studies have been analysed.Conclusions: The results indicate that the procurement organisation can achieve a better competitive strength by a centralised organisation, which make it possible to improve conditions of terms when ordering higher purchase volumes. The Sourcing strategies can improve a company?s power within the supply chain. All companies within the study had a very good knowledge about consumer behaviour.

Private equity bolag som skapar värde genom leveraged buyout har under de senaste åren fått ökad konkurrens inom den process vilken syftar till att finna attraktiva investeringar som kan generera avkastning enligt uppsatta avkastningskrav. Processen som karaktäriseras av informationsasymmetri och kallas för deal sourcing har därmed blivit ett svårare moment för dagens private equity bolag. Denna empiriska fallstudie undersöker hur svenska private equity bolag inom kategorin leveraged buyout i praktiken arbetar med deal sourcing och vilka drivkrafter som processen utformas efter i syfte att finna potentiella investeringar. Detta undersöks i ljuset av den akademiska forskning som tidigare gjorts på området. Studien utgår ifrån tio intervjuer med företagsrepresentanter vilka har insyn i och är delaktiga i processen med att finna bolag.

Evaluating and choosing suppliers based on price alone, has traditionally been the dominant strategy for supplier selection within the purchasing function. With the origin of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)-concept in the early 1990s, a new philosophy dawned that promoted the importance of knowing the effects of supplier performance on the buying firm?s internal costs. Since then, scholars have been arguing the case of TCO as a viable model for making purchasing decisions and conducting supplier evaluation. Still, after two decades little is known about its penetration and impact on the practices of buying corporations, leaving the questions of which costs are included in the purchasing organisations? decisions unanswered, and even more importantly why certain costs are considered and others not.

Bakgrund: Dagens globalisering har möjliggjort en ökad handel mellan länder vilket har inneburit en ökad konsumtion och i sin tur en större negativ miljöpåverkan. Denna miljöpåverkan sker på grund av att produkterna som anskaffas leder till föroreningar genom avlägsna producenter och långa transportsträckor samt genom en icke-miljövänlig produktion. Att se över sina försörjningsstrategier blir alltså allt viktigare och Green sourcing bör övervägas framför traditionella sourcing strategier. Konceptet är relativt nytt och befinner sig fortfarande i utvecklingsfasen där fullständig forskning om Green sourcing saknas. Genom den begränsade forskning som finns inom området kan ett forskningsgap utskiljas då Green sourcing ännu inte utforskats inom offentligheten.

The purpose of this paper was to investigate how some teachers interpret, teach and assess listening strategies. Our investigation was based on interviews and a questionnaire answered by some year 9 English teachers. Furthermore, the aim was to study whether awareness and teaching of listening strategies are important for teachers in their everyday practice. The results indicate that the teachers interpret listening strategies as purposes for listening, such as listening for detail or the whole. The teachers do not explicitly teach listening strategies, and they do not assess them.

Inköp har fått en allt större betydelse eftersom att inköp både har strategisk betydelse och mycket pengar (50-75 procent av omsättningen) går åt till inköp av material eller komponenter i tillverkande företag. Den strategiska betydelsen kommer från att de inköpta delarna kommer att vara en del av slutprodukten och om inte dessa delar uppnår köparföretagets standard kommer inte heller slutprodukten kunna prestera efter denna standard alltså kan leverantörer även ses som en källa till konkurrenskraft. Det finns även stor potential till besparingar på denna post eftersom att stor del av omsättningen går åt på inköp. Hur ett företag ska göra sina inköp råder det delade meningar om, Porter (1980) menar att företag bör använda sig av flera leverantörer för att ständigt utsätta dessa leverantörer för konkurrens och företaget kan på så sätt vara säker på att det är ett konkurrenskraftigt erbjudande de får. Deming (1986) däremot menar att företag borde kolla på den totala kostnaden för ett inköp och därmed minimera antalet leverantörer för att få ner kostnaderna kring själva inköpet.

Dock innebär global sourcing inte enbart fördelar utan företagen utsätts även för flertal risker och utmaningar som de måste hantera för att lyckas, inte minst på en tillväxtmarknad som Indien.Syftet med uppsatsen är att få en ökad kunskap och förståelse för de utmaningar och risker som företag inom fordonsindustrin ställs inför, vid global sourcing på tillväxtmarknader. Studien fokuserar på Volvo Bussar och AQ Group för att undersöka hur de upplever, samt hanterar risker och utmaningar på tillväxtmarknaden Indien.För att besvara syftet med studien har det vetenskapliga förhållningssättet i uppsatsen varit hermeneutiskt med en deduktiv ansats och kvalitativ undersökningsmetod. Strukturerade intervjuer har genomförts med företagsledare inom två globala företag, dessutom har en intervju genomförts med en branschorganisation inom fordonsindustrin.

This research paper has the aim of examining Swedish and Australian teachers? knowledge base and use of learning strategies in their language classes. After conducting qualitative interviews, the interviewees? answers are tabled to corresponding descriptions of how strategies are communicated in current curricula of the two countries. The answers confirm that teachers? understanding of learning strategies partly agree with previous research on strategies.

Outsourcing in IS/IT offers organizations the possibility to use external resources, maximize flexibility and focus on core business, this prompts many organizations today to be less keen on developing IS/IT-services in-house. Sourcing IS/IT is however a complex activity in itself thus requiring competencies in many areas of expertise and lots of organizations has experienced the challenge of managing the necessary competencies to ensure successful Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO). A literature review in the field of outsourcing revealed the lack of a comprehensive competency management framework with the ability to guide competency resource planning in ITO projects. In order to highlight the problem area, an extensive and thorough literature review and an empirical case study which investigated the skills and assets in ITO projects at ten major Swedish organizations was conducted. The study found that it is possible for organizations through structured analysis of their intellectual capital, using the competency framework developed within the study, to plan sourcing processes and prepare the necessary changes to ensure the ITO projects can be implemented with the desired effect..
